During the Indochine War, Vietnamese government divided U Minh forest into two areas: U Minh Thuong (Upper U Minh) belongs lớn Kien Giang và U Minh Ha (Lower U Minh) belongs khổng lồ Ca Mau; these two forests are at two sides of Trem River. One notable characteristic of U Minh Thuong is its quality position in the area of freshwater wetlands with peat swamp forest.
